


In 2026, the Priorov Centre (formerly the Central Institute of Prosthetics and Orthopedics) marks 105 years since its founding.
Today, the National Medical Research Centre for Traumatology and Orthopedics named after N.N. Priorov of the Ministry of Health of Russia is the flagship of specialized high-technology medical care in Russia. It was among the first to master robotic technology for large joint replacement. Unique operations based on the Centre’s own techniques — which have no analogues in the country or the world — are performed here. New types and standards of high-technology medical care have been introduced. Work on improving care for road accident victims continues, and the volume of joint replacement surgery is growing.
In 2025, the Centre performed more than 20,000 operations, received more than 90,000 patients, and conducted tens of thousands of consultations and studies. Behind these numbers lie saved lives, the health of patients, and the happiness of their loved ones.
The Priorov Centre is not simply a clinic — it is a research center. This means that its specialists not only provide medical care but also create new technologies and inventions. Thanks to these developments, thousands of patients gain a chance at recovery.
Specialists at the Centre have developed a unique method for restoring the integrity of the vertebral arch in spondylolysis using titanium implants individually manufactured by 3D printing. Computer planning makes it possible to produce implants that fit the patient precisely. As a result, the scope of surgical intervention is reduced, there is no need for additional spinal fixation, and maximum results are achieved — complete elimination of the lumbosacral deformity. This is extremely important because the majority of patients with spondylolysis are children and adolescents who are actively engaged in professional sports, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, hockey, and figure skating.
At the prestigious International Invention and Innovation Exhibition for the Middle East (IIFME-2025), this innovative medical development was awarded a gold medal. Also in 2025, the Centre became a laureate of the Russian Government Prize in Medical Science — for the development and introduction into surgical practice of innovative personalized spinal stabilization systems for use following traumatic injuries.
