The world is changing. It changes, of course, not instantly, but inevitably. As the general situation in the world changes, so does the criminal situation in the world. Russia is no exception. The increase in the scale of criminal and terrorist activities, as a type of criminal activity, gives additional importance to the problem of ensuring public safety and timely prevention and prevention of illegal actions. The general level of technology development leads to an increase in the level of terrorist training. These are often no longer single fanatics, but representatives of large territorial and transnational terrorist associations. The organization of criminal acts is based on a long preparation time and significant financial resources.
Criminal groups are constantly changing the forms, means and methods of implementing criminal intentions, using increasingly sophisticated methods of hiding weapons and explosive devices, and carrying out more and more thorough work on organizing illegal actions. Recently, suicide bombers have been used for terrorist attacks. A suicide bomber is no longer a person, but a biological object with an altered consciousness, but it is extremely difficult to determine this by external signs.
Currently, almost any socially significant objects are under threat of illegal actions, including those of a terrorist nature, which is undoubtedly an additional socially destabilizing factor. There is also a tendency to strengthen the connection between terrorist and criminal structures.
Terrorism today is a type of organized criminal activity and an extreme manifestation of extremism, therefore, in our opinion, it is correct to talk about the emergence of complex criminal and terrorist threats to security.
All this indicates that when developing a system to prevent illegal acts, and, above all, terrorist threats, it is correct to use comprehensive, innovative approaches to ensuring security. There is also a need to provide preventive measures to prevent and prevent illegal acts.
One of the options in solving this problem is the Vibration imaging system. Vibraimage is an innovative and, in our opinion, a very promising system for analyzing the psychophysiological state of a person. A vibration image is an image that reflects the parameters of an object’s movement and vibration, as well as the reactions of its internal, unconscious tension. Vibration imaging technology belongs to the field of biometrics and can be used to measure, evaluate, process and analyze the psychophysiological state of living biological objects that are relatively stationary in space (quasi-stationary), for example, standing or sitting in one place. The vestibular-emotional reflex is the psychophysiological basis of the informative value of the vibration image.
Vibration imaging technology, applied to humans, analyzes the motor activity (microvibrations) of the human head and the entire body and converts motion parameters into characteristics of a psychophysiological state. The great Russian physiologist I. Sechenov argued as early as 1863 (Sechenov I. M., 2001) that every thought has a muscular manifestation. And it, in turn, causes certain vibrations in the human body. This is very similar to the state of tremor.
One of the distinctive features of Vibration Imaging is that this system does not require a comprehensive analysis of criminal and terrorist intentions. In a number of systems (profiling, input control, etc.), special attention is paid to the analysis of previous negative events, the analysis of these events, external signs and, based on this, the creation of a model (face, image, etc.) of the alleged violator. This is a rather expensive procedure both from the point of view of financing and intellectually and analytically.
Vibration imaging does not require such costs and resources, and does not impose special requirements on personnel training. Vibration imaging is a complex of hardware and software tools for remote analysis of the psychophysiological state of a person in natural conditions, without direct impact on the object.
This is what the normal (not excited) state of a person looks like in the display of the vibration imaging system, with the calculation of the current level of danger that the controlled person poses to others (Mix Mode).
This approach makes it possible to minimize errors and inaccuracies associated with the unpredictability of a person’s reaction to an obvious external influence. Similarly, remote and contactless analysis does not violate the psychological boundaries of a person, which, otherwise, may lead to incorrect human behavior.
I would like to draw attention to the psychological aspect related to the essence of terrorist activity.
What is the essence of terrorism? First of all, terror is fear!
Terror (Latin terror «fear, terror») is the intimidation of political opponents through physical violence. Terror is also referred to as the threat of physical violence for political or other reasons, or intimidation with the threat of violence or murder.
Synonyms of the word «terror» are the words «intimidation», «intimidation».
Thus, the essence of terror is fear-mongering. Creating an environment of anxiety and suspicion, leading to increased aggression and inappropriate behavior of people.
The question arises: don’t enhanced patrols, security personnel, and technical controls, such as metal detectors and introscopes, increase people’s anxiety and create the message «it’s not safe around» on an unconscious level?
In our opinion, these security measures, ideally designed to keep people safe, to a large extent escalate the situation of fear themselves. This can be determined by the reaction of a number of people to the demands of employees of various security agencies to undergo certain security measures. It turns out that actions aimed at «relieving tension and fear» provoke them themselves. In addition, sometimes the security personnel themselves show excessive zeal and responsibility, and they themselves are not protected from psychological problems and breakdowns. Thus, it turns out that terrorism, in terms of escalating tensions, achieves its goal. People’s suspicion and aggressiveness are increasing, and people may not understand where their psychological and personal boundaries are being violated. We do not have specific data to analyze the situation, and we could not find statistics on this issue, and we were guided by our own experience, observations, and interviews with security personnel.
The Vibration Imaging system is devoid of all these disadvantages. Its remoteness and contactlessness allow the analysis to be carried out selectively, focusing not only on the opinion, even if trained, of security personnel, but on special software developed by the multidisciplinary company ELSIS.
Security measures and rules should be flexible and appropriate to the degree of threat, which, in turn, varies depending on changing factors. This suggests that several levels of security can be distinguished according to the degree of potential threat. Therefore, the set of security measures must be adequate to the degree of threat. Is it possible to implement this by means of access control? In our opinion, this is quite difficult. Again, the degree of internal tension and aggression may vary in different places. In such cases, specialists come to the aid of the possibilities of adequately situational regulation of the Vibration imaging system. The ability to choose an adequate level of aggression and tension allows specialists to focus their attention on objects that stand out at elevated levels.
The vibration imaging system allows you to identify potentially dangerous persons (passengers, visitors, staff) and situations that can be characterized as dangerous or threatening (this may be related to portable luggage, illegal items, etc.). This approach, combined with other systems for maintaining the safe operation of infrastructure facilities, will create an integrated approach that takes into account such significant security factors such as security screening, professional training and retraining of employees, etc.

This is what the excited state of a person looks like on the monitor.
Another aspect of the remote analysis of the vibration imaging system is that the security system is associated not only with the carrying of dangerous substances and objects, but also with the use of documents that do not meet the requirements of government agencies or are simply fake. In this case, only the person viewing the documents can determine the violation. The existing and currently actively used means of protection are focused on the search and detection of dangerous objects, but do not make it possible to identify illegal intentions. And the Vibration Imaging system, in our opinion, is able to do this.
However, the use of technical means to ensure security, of course, does not guarantee absolutely 100% of the result in determining a potentially dangerous situation, because the data needs to be interpreted correctly, and this is the so-called «human factor», and technology sometimes breaks down and it takes some time to recover. In turn, one should not forget about a person’s subjective perception of incoming information and the psychological aspects of human activity, and the influence of third-party factors on a person. However, when using an integrated approach based on the interface of technical solutions and trained personnel, efficiency can increase significantly.
In this short presentation, we did not set out to fully explain the essence of the Vibration imaging system. We also did not delve into the specific technical aspects of the implementation of this complex. We decided to identify those points that, in our opinion, look quite relevant and interesting in terms of practical use.
We have focused our attention on one of a number of possible uses of Vibration Imaging. We see a fairly wide range of possibilities for its use in everyday life, both for security purposes and in the analysis of multiple intelligence, graphic arts, etc.
In our opinion, the Vibration imaging system is a promising and dynamic system. It allows for a psychophysiological analysis of both a specific individual and the masses of people. It seems to us that the use of this system is promising and requires further study and research.
Vibration imaging is a system that flexibly reacts to socio-political threats, which gives reason to consider this system as a systematic approach to the preventive protection of objects, territories and people from illegal actions, including terrorist ones.
A vibration imaging system can help improve the overall level of safety, as it uses various systems, approaches, and technologies to ensure the safety and identification of people in an altered state of consciousness. This system allows it to be used in various areas of human activity, it is remote and does not cause any additional non-standard reactions.
Additional study and development of this area may provide additional material for scientific and practical activities in various areas of human activity.
Vibration imaging is based on a person’s unconscious reactions, which makes it possible to obtain fairly reliable information directly from those areas of the human psyche that a person is practically unable to influence. This requires additional and further study and analysis, but the prospects for this, in our opinion, are limitless.
Vibration imaging is based on systematic experience, an integrated approach to the situation and a systematic analysis, and allows you to search and find cause-and-effect relationships between various aspects of the human psyche. This, in turn, allows for a non-standard and innovative approach to both security issues and many other issues.
